I am keen to have something pocketable that can still be used with an iPhone, and is relatively affordable. Am I right in understanding that this device, if used in conjunction with the Ultrasonic Analyser app, the Apple lighting to USB3 adaptor, and presumably a USB to micro-USB (or similar) cable then I will get similar functionality to the Echo Meter Touch, perhaps minus a few things like geotagging?
Murraynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6251794512793454139.post-50273164534221050552023-07-22T04:53:35.640-04:002023-07-22T04:53:35.640-04:00Thanks.

Well, you would save quite a bit of money (of course) if you went with The S2. You would also never need to worry about it being affected by weather (especially if it is mounted correctly).
The M2, although expensive, is just an amazing bat detector. It captures professional quality recordings of bats. It also has a host of neat features. Definitely a top of the range detector.
I've always enjoyed getting bat recordings , by placing a bat detector, such as the M2, on a window sill (indoors).
You get the benefit of hearing the bats as they're being detected/recorded. Also changing settings when the mood strikes you; which is something you don't really do with the static recorders (such as the S2, etc.).batdetectors@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03073278129551997043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6251794512793454139.post-2576026880212652402023-04-19T04:25:52.355-04:002023-04-19T04:25:52.355-04:00Thanks for the fast reply! In your review you said it could be better but was that in terms of being weather proof or is the recording performance also improvable? I just w...Nice to see this review finally appeared. I just wondered about some of the pro's and cons. Withstanding very cold temperatures, what did you do to it? Usually bats here hibernate during the cold times. Battery life, how many hours of operation did you get out of a battery charge? Usage depends a lot on display brightness and additional current consumers like GPS. The largest battery I ever fitted (126090) managed to record 3 nights using unattended scheduled recording (display and GPS off). Recording should be easy, just press the record button as you hear a sound you want to capture. All recordings are full spectrum wav files no matter what listening mode is used. Not using headphones (but speaker) can result in feedback which can be present in recordings, maybe that gives the inconsistency? I'd like to know more about that apparent inconsistency because I never heard about it. The microphone seal is quite important but other than that I can not think of any inconsistency in the recordings.
